More than a thousand acres of land was purchased in recent years by farmers from Israel in Kakheti, in the fertile valley of Shirak. This was announces by the Israeli businessmen consultant George Gia Abulashvili.

According to him, part of this land has already been planted with wheat, and on the rest of the land farmers are going to grow other crops with the the advanced technology developed by talented Israeli farmers.

If these initiatives will give a good effect, it is assumed that the Israelis will buy additional farmland in Kakheti. Another interesting fact is that the land is not acquired from the state, but directly with the owners of land.

Government representatives explained that local farmers will benefit from the sale, for they also will master the progressive forms of agricultural land cultivation and will be provided with neccessary assistance.
