GDP growth in 1st quarter over 6% - Prime Minister Azarov

The growth in gross domestic product (GDP) in the 1st quarter of 2011, according to preliminary data, may be more than 6%. This was stated by Prime Minister Mykola Azarov at a meeting with local producers of petroleum products.
"Economic situation in Ukraine has now stabilized; we are coming out of the crisis. GDP growth rates of more than 6% are expected in the first three months (2011)," Mykola Azarov said.
He noted that the financial situation in the country is stable now, and the government budget deficit declined to 3%.
Gross domestic product growth in 2010 compared to 2009 was 4.2%.
A fall in the gross domestic product of Ukraine in 2009 amounted to 15.1% compared with 2008.
The state budget for 2011 envisaged GDP growth of 4.5%.
