FAO predicts significant grain output increases in 2011 – 2012

FAO forecast that global grain production in the coming marketing year will reach 1,802 million metric tones, or 79 mmt., more than this years. The UN agency expects the key increases will occur in Canada, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. We disagree in regards to Ukraine because we believe that farmers will not be applying much fertilizer this spring and more hectares will be devoted to oilseeds than last year.
