UAC: 2011 grain yield to reach 36-37mn tons

Grain harvest in 2011 will amount to 36-37 million tons, Oleksandr Yaroslavsky, deputy director general of the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation (UAC), told reporters Thursday.
"With good weather, more or less optimal climate conditions, God forbid that Ukraine reaches 36-37 million tons [of grain]," he said.
He noted that judging by today's prices for fertilizers, the amount of mineral fertilizers for farmers will continue to decline, which accordingly will reduce grain yields this year.
In 2010 Ukraine harvested 39.3 million tons of cereals and legumes in weight after processing, which is 14.6% less than a year before, when the harvest was 46 million tons.
