Belarus may earn $6bn on farm produce exports in 2014

Belarus expects to earn at least $6 billion on the export of agricultural products, Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Vasily Sedin told reporters on 11 November, BelTA has learned.
Vasily Sedin noted that Belarus fully satisfies the domestic need for agricultural produce. “On the whole, our objective is to promote export. We expect that the export revenue will make up at least $6 billion this year,” he stressed.
There are plans to raise this figure to $7 billion in 2015. The statement was made at a recent meeting of Belarusian Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich with MPs, senior officials of the Economy Ministry and Finance Ministry, representatives of the National Bank.
Speaking about the export of food to Russia, Vasily Sedin said that the export of milk and meat products is good. “Russia accounts for more than 55% of our export. We have recently increased the supply of cheese,” the official said. He also praised the progress in the work with Russian trade networks.
