In 2015 Belarus intends to increase the export of agricultural products by 13% in comparison with 2014. Export proceeds are expected to reach $7 billion, BelTA learned from Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich on 10 November during the meeting of the prime minister with members of the Belarus parliament, top officials of the Economy Ministry and the Finance Ministry as well as representatives of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus.

“In accordance with the forecast for 2015 the growth rate of agricultural output is expected to reach 103%, with the export growth rate at 113%. The forecast also stipulates that the country will get $7 billion in export proceeds from exporting agricultural products,” said the Prime Minister.

Mikhail Myasnikovich remarked that reaching for new markets, improving the effectiveness of sales and work with end exporters instead of focusing on network traders are still priority tasks for Belarusian agricultural manufacturers.

Speaking about agribusiness problems, the Belarusian head of government mentioned the set of measures suggested by the working group tasked with looking into agribusiness problems. “The combined economic effect from implementing the Belarus president decrees that have been passed as a result of the efforts of the relevant working group is estimated at Br4.4 trillion,” noted Mikhail Myasnikovich. “Among other things it will allow slightly reducing the shortage of floating assets of agribusiness and increasing the profitability of agricultural enterprises”.

BelTA reported earlier that on 17 July 2014 Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko signed four decrees prepared by the interagency working group tasked with looking into agribusiness problems. The decrees stipulate measures concerning the state agrarian policy, measures to improve the performance of agricultural enterprises, measures to reorganize agricultural enterprises, and measures to address peculiarities of supplies of agricultural products for state needs.
