According to various estimates, the Russian grain crop will decrease 1-2 MMT due to bad weather in Siberia and the Urals. This opinion was expressed by experts surveyed by TASS and it does not coincide with the view of the Agriculture Ministry of Russia.
The Russian Ag Ministry assured that the situation would have no impact on Russia’s total crop forecast: the ministry expects 104.2 MMT in net weight.
However, specialists of the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR) have already cut their forecast for Russia’s 2014 grain crop from 104 MMT to 102 MMT in standard weight (excluding 1 MMT in Crimea). “This forecast will still undergo a reduction due to adverse weather conditions and protracted harvest,” said IKAR grain market analyst Yevgeniy Zaytsev.
