The dialogue with the USA on Belarus' accession to the World Trade Organization is past stalemate, BelTA learned from Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Guryanov on 17 September.

“The process of Belarus' accession to the WTO proceeds. We are following the procedure: negotiations with a working group of countries, which are willing to discuss the regime of access to the market of commodities and services of Belarus,” said the Deputy Foreign Minister. “I cannot speak about other countries, but the Belarus-USA dialogue has started moving. Lately we have been actively exchanging question lists and answers with regard to the improvement of Belarus' legislation in the area of foreign trade. American colleagues are interested in a number of areas, including intellectual property rights, which are of principal importance for American companies”.

“As far as Belarusian-American relations and WTO matters are concerned, we have agreed to move pragmatically and progressively within the framework of negotiations between experts without stalling the process,” added Alexander Guryanov.
