USDA improves forecast for 2014 grain harvest in Ukraine by 2.5%

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in August improved its forecast for the grain harvest in Ukraine in 2014 by almost 2.5%, to 58.5 million tonnes.
Its report improved the expected total volume of Ukraine’s grain exports in the new marketing year that started in July – it will be almost 27 and a half million tonnes. According to the Ukrainian Agriculture Ministry, grain export in the previous marketing year was 32.4 million tonnes, which is 42% more than the year before. Total harvest last year reached a record amount of 63 million tonnes.
