Argentina strengthens its trade agreements with China

With the objective of increasing its agricultural exports to China where demand is growing.
In margin of the agreements between Chinese President Xi and Argentine President Cristina Kirchner, the Ministers of Agriculture of the 2 countries have renewed their partnership. Since the first agreement in 2001, relations have been strengthened between the two countries which consider this cooperation strategic and complementary. On one side a huge market where demand is strong, on the other side significant potential for production and export opportunity.
This agreement opens the Chinese market for Argentine exports of pears, apples, sorghum, and other agricultural products such as citrus fruits, berries, cherries, table grapes.
Agricultural products accounted for 80% of Argentina's exports to China in 2013, bilateral trade reached USD 14.84 billion. China is the second largest trading partner and the largest buyer of agricultural products from Argentina. Argentina is the fifth largest trading partner of China in Latin America and the third largest source of imports of agricultural products in the world.
