Retail sales in Belarus up 11.9% in January-May

The retail turnover in Belarus rose 11.9% year-on-year in January-May 2014 to a total of Br117.6 trillion, BelTA learnt from the National Statistics Committee.
Food products accounted for 49.4% of the total retail sales, non-food goods made up 50.6%.
In the first five months of 2014 food sales totaled Br58.1 trillion, non-food sales reached Br59.5 trillion, which made up 8.1% and 15.6% on the same period last year respectively.
Retail sales per capita stood at Br12.4 million. In January-May 2013 the figure was at Br10.4 million.
According to the National Statistics Committee, trade organizations account for 80.9% of the total retail turnover, while markets and trading centers occupy the rest 19.1%.
