Kazakhstan wants to reduce its imports

Kazakhstan has decided to reduce food imports significantly by 2020.
The Minister of Agriculture has announced that the government had decided to reduce food imports. Considering the volume too high thus the imports of dairy products representing 13% of total imports of the country, sweets 18% and fruits and vegetables 6%.
Last year the country imported 4 billion USD of food representing +5% compared to 2012. Government will establish a program to develop the production and processing industry by 2020 with the aim of reducing all imports. A public awareness campaign will also be set up to encourage people to consume food produced in the country.
With this plan, the volume of imported fruits and vegetables should be reduced by 20%
