Russian ministry raises 2014 grain exports outlook to 25 mln tns

Russia's Agriculture Ministry has raised its forecast for grain exports in 2014 to 25 million tonnes from 22 million tonnes, Minister Nikolai Fyodorov said Wednesday.
"We will be able to export up to 25 million tonnes taking into account the current situation on the global food market," Fyodorov said.
Russia exported 24.1 million tonnes of grain in the period from July 1, the start of the current agricultural year, and May 21, according the Federal Customs Service.
The ministry also hopes that grain exports will remain flat on the year in the 2014-2015 agricultural year, Fyodorov said.
Grain harvest will reach 100 million tonnes in 2014, Fyodorov said, adding that the ministry will continue buying grain for its intervention fund, to expand it to around 5 million tonnes from around 1.8 million tonnes currently.
