Belaruskali has suspended negotiations with Russian manufacturers of compound fertilizers, BelTA learned from OAO Belaruskali Director General Valery Kiriyenko on 22 May.
“We have suspended talks with manufacturers of compound fertilizers although the capacity of the Russian market in this regard stands at 2 million tonnes of fertilizers per annum. Our negotiations were quite vigorous in the past, but Uralkali offers them a price that makes our shipping to Russia unprofitable,” noted the head of the enterprise. He said that at present it is more profitable for Belaruskali to supply fertilizers to other areas with a greater profit margin. However, Russian manufacturers of compound fertilizers regularly contact Belaruskali with requests to consider their proposals.
Belaruskali supplies granulated products to the Russian market.
OAO Belaruskali is one of the world's largest manufacturers and exporters of potash fertilizers. According to the International Fertilizer Industry Association, Belaruskali accounts for 14% of the world's potash fertilizers production. Belaruskali exports products to over 70 countries. The company comprises four mine groups as well as auxiliary divisions. The state owns 100% of the shares in OAO Belaruskali.
