The European Union is planning to unilaterally complete by June 2014 the approval of the decision to unilaterally introduce the provisions on a deep and comprehensive free trade area with Ukraine.
European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso said this in Strasbourg on Tuesday, Ukrinform reported.
"The [European] Commission has adopted the first of the foreseen measures. We have agreed a set of unilateral trade provisions that will allow Ukraine to benefit substantially from the advantages offered in the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area, DCFTA, and this even before the signature of the Association Agreement with Ukraine," he said.
He said that the full legislative process could be concluded in time before the last plenary of the European Parliament, so that the measure can be in force before June this year.
As reported, earlier the European Union announced a unilateral opening of its markets to Ukrainian exports, even if the Association Agreement with Ukraine is not signed.
