Customs Union’s foreign, domestic trade down in 2013

In 2013 the mutual trade of the Customs Union member states declined by 5.5% from last year, the foreign trade inched down by 0.4%, BelTA learned from the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

In 2013 the foreign trade of the Customs Union member states with third countries amounted to $931 billion, down by $3.6 billion over 2012.

Export to third countries came at $585.4 billion, import at $345.6 billion. In cost terms the volume of export was down by 1.4, import was up by 1.4%. In 2013 the Customs Union had a foreign trade surplus as large as $219.2 billion.

Without taking into account fuel and energy commodities the volume of export was down by 6.1% in cost terms, the volume of import went up by 1.8%, the Eurasian Economic Commission noted.

In 2013 Russia’s export to third countries rose by 1% to $489.2 billion, with import up by 0.5% to $295.1 billion. Russia had a foreign trade surplus of $194.1 billion. Belarus’ export to third countries went down by 32.5% to $19.5 billion, while import rose by 6.9% to $20 billion. Belarus had a deficit of $0.5 billion. Kazakhstan’s export dropped by 4.5% to $76.7 billion, import was up by 6.3% to $30.5 billion. The surplus for Kazakhstan made up $45.2 billion.

In 2013 the mutual trade of the Customs Union member states totaled $64.1 billion, down 5.5% from 2012. Belarus-Russia trade totaled $39.72 billion, down 9.4%. Russia-Kazakhstan trade totaled $23.49 billion, up 1.73%. Belarus-Kazakhstan trade went up by 3% to $925.3 million.

Belarus-Russia trade accounted for 61.9% of the trade in the Customs Union, Russia-Kazakhstan trade for 36.6%, Belarus-Kazakhstan for 1.5%.

“The fall in the mutual trade was due to a considerable decrease in the delivery of Russian oil products to Belarus (after the shipments surged 1,5 times in 2012 in comparison with 2011). Without taking into account fuel and energy commodities the mutual trade of the Customs Union member states rose by 0.3% in comparison with 2012,” said the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
