The tide is turning, the market for organic agricultural products must be occupied. Monsanto plans to increase its profits, out of the market estimated 2.3 billion $ a year.
Monsanto has announced the completion of "The BioAg Alliance" with the Danish company Novozymes, the world No.1 of food and industrial enzymes. The two companies will now focus on the implementation of the strategic long-term alliance.
They wish to "identify, develop and sell solutions based on micro-organisms that help farmers around the world to increase crop yields using less inputs."
Monsanto, in its statement, said that "The BioAg Alliance" is unique in the industry. It combines the capabilities of Novozymes in microbial research with advanced biology of Monsanto. However, other chemical giants have also invested in the sector: BASF acquiring Becker Underwood, technology specialist coated with microorganism seeds and Bayer acquiring AgraQuest which produces and sells organic pesticides.
