In the current marketing year, grain exports will reach 9 million tons, Minister of Agriculture Assylzhan Mamytbekov has said at the extended meeting of the ministry's staff attended by Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov.
According to him, the export potential of this year will exceed the last year's level by 26%.
From July 1, 2013 to February 1, 2014 about 5.3 million tons of grain was exported by Kazakhstan, which is up 25% from the same period last season, Mamytbekov noted.
The minister said that "since October 2013 monthly export has been more than 1 million tons of grain and flour in grain equivalent, which is up 33% from the corresponding period last season, the primeminister.kz reports.
"Thus, in order to achieve the projected volume of 9 million tons, all that's left is to export 3.7 million tons before July 1, which is quite realistic and feasible," he concluded.
Despite the difficult weather conditions 19 million tons of grain in net weight was harvested in 2013. This is by 48% more than last year.
