A debt crisis will determine the situation in Ukraine in the nearest years, but GDP will slightly grow in 2014.
This forecast was made public by Doctor of Economic Sciences, Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Economic Research and Political Consultations Ihor Burakovsky at a press conference Thursday.
“By calculations of the Institute of Economic Research and Political Consultations, we will get a slight minus in 2013 - approximately 0.4%. Next year, we expect slight intensification of economic activities. By our calculations, GDP may grow by 1.1%,” he said.
Burakovsky added that the economic situation in Ukraine next year will depend on holding or not holding the reforms.
“Our life in 2014 will be determined by such issues as carrying out reforms. In 2014, our political class will pass two exams - for populism or real economic reforms, and the second - for responsibility, which means taking difficult decisions,” the Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Economic Research and Political Consultations stressed.
