Experts expect further acceleration of inflation

Consumer inflation in Ukraine will grow from the second quarter of 2011, an analyst at the Phoenix Capital investment firm, Oleksandr Lozovy, has forecast.
In his opinion, such factors as the revision of administratively regulated utility tariffs, a rise in gasoline prices and instability in food prices will influence the further acceleration of consumer inflation this year.
In addition, a considerable rise in producer prices, which with some delay will exert pressure on the prices of consumer goods, poses a significant risk to the inflation forecast for this year.
Lozovy said that the current weakening of inflationary dynamics mainly reflected the trend of monthly deflation, which was observed in mid-2010.
As UKRINFORM reported, according to official statistics, the consumer price index for goods and services in February 2011 compared to January 2011 amounted to 0.9%. Since the beginning of the year, it has amounted to 1.9%, while in February 2011 compared to February 2010, the figure was 7.2%.
The state budget for 2011 foresees inflation of 8.9%.
