In 2014 the trade between Belarus and Moldova may reach $500 million, Vice Premier of Belarus Mikhail Rusyi said at the opening of the Belarusian-Moldovan business forum in Chisinau on 9 December held as part of the 15th meeting of the intergovernmental Belarusian-Moldovan commission for trade and economic cooperation, BelTA has learnt.
According to Mikhail Rusyi, Moldova is one of the most important and promising partners of Belarus. “There are no disagreements between Minsk and Chisinau. The economies of Belarus and Moldova are complementary,” the official said. He added that the role of the governments of the two states is in creating conditions for finding new points of contact, setting up joint companies, boosting bilateral trade, opening new jobs with decent salaries, increasing budget revenues.
The Vice Premier pointed to a successful Minsk-Chisinau joint project to assemble Belarusian trolleybuses Belkommunmash and vineyard tractors. In his words, there are good prospects to enter third markets with these products as well as produce Moldovan vines and cognacs in Belarus.
Mikhail Rusyi urged the business to open more new joint ventures in Belarus. He stressed that the economic situation in the country is stable. The positive processes in the Belarusian economy were confirmed earlier by the EBRD and international credit rating agencies.
Attending the Belarusian-Moldovan business forum are representatives of more than 20 companies in the pharmaceutical, agriculture, food, construction, machine-building and other industries. Businessmen arrange bilateral meetings to establish partnerships, to conclude new contracts on cooperation.
