The International Finance Corporation IFC invested over USD 200 million in development of Ukrainian agricultural business this year.
Head of the International Finance Corporation IFA activities in Ukraine Olena Voloshyna has said about this at the 3rd annual conference “Money for business, business for money” Wednesday in Kyiv.
“Agricultural business makes up 30% of our portfolio. The IFC invested over USD 200 million in the agricultural sector in 2013,” she said.
The agricultural sector remains the most interesting sphere for investment. “As before, the agricultural business sector is interesting. Demand for foodstuffs grows in the world. In addition, Ukraine has potential to produce the larger volume of products and there are also some competitive advantages,” the expert stressed.
The investors note positive reforms in Ukraine, in particular, rising of Ukraine's positions in the doing business ranking.
In order to attract investors, the IFC representative recommends that fiscal deficit must be reduced, gas tariffs must be revised and reforms should be structured to support a private investor. On the whole, the IFC invested in the Ukrainian economy about USD 300 million over the current year. “And this is not the limit,” Voloshyna says.
