Ukraine’s largest farming holding Ukrlandfarming is planning to kick off the construction of a terminal nearby Yuzhny port (Odesa region) in March-April 2014, the holding’s owner Oleh Bakhmatyuk told journalists. “We hope to begin construction works as soon as March-April,” he said. The holding owner specified that the company expects to obtain building permission by the end of 2013. According to O.Bakhmatyk, Ukrlandfarming has not yet found an investor to jointly build the terminal. He expressed hope that attracting an investor for this project would promote the development of other projects of the company. “But there is a problem with Ukraine’s ratings now. It is very difficult to find a liquid foreign resource, whereas the domestic one is very expensive,” he said. Reportedly, the company acquired a 68.6 ha land parcel nearby Yuzhny port in early 2013. Ukrlandfarming, according to him, is the largest farming holding in Eurasia. It grows cereals, produces eggs, egg products and sugar, raises cattle and distributes machinery, fertilizers and seeds. The holding comprises 111 flat grain storage facilities, six seed factories, 19 poultry factories, nine layer farms, three breeder farms, three breeding farms, six compound feed mills, three long-term storage warehouses, the Imperovo Foods egg product plant, six sugar refineries, 19 meat-packing plants and two tanneries. The company keeps 68,000 head of cattle. The land bank of the company now amounts to 534 Th ha. The owner of Ukrlandfarming is Oleh Bakhmatyuk.
