Kernel (Ukraine) and Seaboard Foods (USA) are negotiating construction of pork production plant in Ukraine

According to Forbes news reports, major shareholder of Kernel Andrey Verevskiy and shareholders of Seaboard Foods are negotiating potential partnership to construct large-scale pork production plant in Ukraine. News report suggest that at the moment companies are considering different opportunities regarding land purchase. There is a probability that the new plant will be located in Kharkiv region. Governor of Kharkiv region confirmed that region administration has been negotiating with Seaboard Foods representatives. It has been approximated that the total investment anticipated in the project is estimated at USD 700 million. The total capacity of the potential plant is currently estimated at 800 000 units to be slaughtered for meat production annually.
UkrAgroConsult comment: this project is a novelty for Ukraine in terms of large international producer from abroad cooperating with international company, based in Ukraine. The success rate of the project will determine the extent to which large-scale investment projects will become possible to execute in Ukraine.
