Medvedev stands for creation of grain pool with Ukraine, Kazakhstan

2013-10-11 11:18:45

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev called on the Russian government to continue work on creation of the grain pool of Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.

He has said about this at a meeting of the Russian government Thursday, Ukrinform's own correspondent in Russia reports.

“I would like to also draw attention to one theme, which was repeatedly discussed at the international level - this is creation of so-called grain pool with our partners - Kazakhstan and Ukraine. I would ask you to repeatedly return to this issue, discuss with counterparts, because coordination of our policy in the grain direction, on grain export seems to me rather important with taking into consideration our possibilities - possibilities of Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan,” he said.

According to Medvedev, in the aforementioned countries, a “good yield” of crops is this year, due to this they have “a rather obvious export potential under any conditions.”

To remind, September 26, at the opening of the Cabinet's meeting, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov instructed Economic Development and Trade Ministry, Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry, Infrastructure Ministry and Revenues and Duties Ministry to start work on creation of the Black Sea pool with Russia and Kazakhstan. As Azarov noted, joint work of the three countries on the grain market will allow considerably minimize the risks of price fluctuation and avoid conjuncture losses.
