Ukraine will resume idea of creating grain pool with Russia and Kazakhstan - Prysiazhniuk

2013-10-10 11:46:42

This October, Ukraine will resume its work on the implementation of an idea of ??creating a grain pool with Russia and Kazakhstan.

Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk has said about this, Ukrinform reports.

"If the grain pool increases grain transit and adds cargo volumes to Ukrainian ports - it will be positive," the official said.

However, experts emphasize that this idea will save money spent on the competition of the three countries on the grain market.

Commenting on the prospects of the pool on the BTV channel, President of the Russian Grain Union Arkady Zlochevsky stressed that the main purpose of the structure is not in strengthening the position of Ukrainian, Russian and Kazakh grain market, but the sale of grain by the countries at prices no lower than the world prices.

"We are losing the money simply by virtue of the fact that compete, suppress the prices for each other against the global level. The meaning of the pool is to stop doing this and to somehow coordinate our programs and share information in order to sell at world prices, not lower," he said.

According to him, each of the three countries has sufficiently strong positions on the global market, in different areas, and they are expanding geographically. "The task of the pool is to save money that we lose, that's it," the Russian Grain Union President said.

In general, since the beginning of the current marketing year (July 2013 - June 2014) grain exports from Ukraine to foreign markets reached 3.8 million tons, including 2.3 million tons over the last month.
