Milk and meat subsidy announced – maybe

Although we are in mid March, and the budget was adopted in December last year, the government is finally getting to the issue of providing its often promised subsidies for meat and milk. Generally the current government has often said it wishes to support the development of large scale meat and milk operations and see the curtailment of household production. However each of the past proposals to encourage this production shift through subsidies has met broad scale opposition. This led to stalling and changes. Assuming nothing changes again the following is the proposed set of subsidies:
For pure bred beef cattle producers – 1,9 thousand hryvnia per head
Commercial herds – 1 thousand hryvnia per head
Commercial farms – 600 hryvnia per head
Feedlot purchase of heifers for feeding – 7 hryvnia per kilogram of live weight
Commercial milk sales – 0,35 hryvnia per kilogram of milk
Household milk sales – 0,30 hryvnia per kilogram of milk
Up to 5000 hryvnia for the purchase of milking and milk handling equipment.
Although we support the approach taken by the government, the proposed subsidy program is short on implementation details.
