Kazakhstan may export up to 9-9.5 million tons of grain from this year's harvest.
Assylzhan Mamytbekov, the Agriculture Minister of Kazakhstan, made it public at the weekly briefing of the Central Communications Service under the President of Kazakhstan on Monday.
"The projected volume of grain harvest makes 18.5 million tons this year. Given that, the export potential is also expected to go up slightly," Minister Mamytbekov noted.
"The export potential, however, does not guarantee that all 9-9.5 million tons of grain will be exported," he stressed.
"For instance, in 2011 we harvested nearly 30 million tons of grain, but sold only 12.5 million tons," he added.
