Losses of Roshen corporation, related enterprises and budgets of all levels from the introduced ban on supply of confectionary may exceed UAH 1 billion (USD 123 million) until year end.

Roshen director for development Yevhen Vovchanovsky expressed this opinion to a press conference in Kyiv, Ukrinform reports.

“The matter concerns cumulative losses, such as unpaid taxes, payroll accounting and social payments. It is necessary to take into consideration that related enterprises, which are our suppliers, also suffer losses,” the corporation representative has said.

At the same time, the top manager could not estimate Roshen's direct losses, since traditionally a peak of sales falls on the autumn-winter period. At the same time, he said that Roshen intends in two years to launch a new production site with capacity of 40,000 tons per month at its Lipetsk factory, where sugar confectionary will be made, including caramel, and a logistic center will operate there.

As reported, Rospotrebnadzor introduced a ban on July 29 on supply of confectionary from Ukrainian factories of Roshen corporation. First, it was said that a toxic substance benzopyrene was detected in the products. The Ukrainian corporation denied those accusations.

The Russian agency informed August 6 that “the main reason of non-compliance of confectionary is non-fulfillment of legislation in the sphere of consumer rights' protection (requirements to marking of foodstuffs - discrepancy of information about nutritional value of the products listed on the label).”

To remind, unscheduled examinations of Roshen corporation products were also held by relevant bodies of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kirghizia and Moldova: no violations were revealed.
