The Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry claims for the second position in the world by grain export volumes following the U.S. Ukraine plans to occupy the world's third position on trading in corn, the fourth - in barley and the sixth - in wheat.
Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk has said about this, Ukrinform reports, referring to the Cabinet's information-analytical bulletin.
“In the current marketing year, the forecast of the world's trading in grain makes up 286 million tons. A considerable part in this will belong to Ukraine, which will preserve a leading position on the international grain market. In total, it is prognosticated that we will be among the world's five leading grain exporters. As concerns main grain importers, Eastern Asia plans to purchase 60 million tons, the Middle East - 40 million tons, North Africa - 33 million tons. Markets of those regions are very attractive for us and we will develop cooperation with them,” the official noted.
Today, according to him, 2.3 million tons of grain has already been supplied to foreign markets from Ukraine, out of these, 1.1 million tons - in August, which is twofold up against the same month of the previous year. In addition, in the nearest future, grain will be sent for exports and it has been already loaded to ships in the ports, totaling about 1.7 million tons.
The government takes all necessary measures for intensification of grain supply to foreign markets, total forecasted output of grain exceeds 57 million tons and exports - over 28 million tons. For this, on the government's instruction, an interdepartmental working group is working on logistic expenses and raising efficiency of grain exports, the resource informs.
