Kazakhstan has increased upward grain harvest forecast for 2013, deputy Agriculture Minister Muslim Umiryayev has said. The prognosis was raised from original 15 mmt to 16.3 mmt. The minister also informed that more than 67% of the sown area is in good condition and more than 30% in satisfactory condition.

Last year, Kazakhstan gathered around 12.9 mmt of grain in clean weight after being hit by severe drought. In 2011, the country harvested record 27 mmt. The Ministry expects that grain exports potential will reach 7-8 mmt in 2013-14 marketing year.
