Belarus-Moldova trade up 12.5% in H1 2013

In H1 2013 the trade between Belarus and Moldova reached $187 million, up 12.5% in comparison with the same period last year, BelTA learnt from the Embassy of Belarus in Moldova.

Belarus’ exports to Moldova went up by 13% to $144.5 million, imports from Moldova increased by 10.8% to make up $42.5 million.

In January-June Belarusian companies considerably increased exports of dairy products, potato, trucks, liquid pumps and medicines to Moldova. Moldova’s exports of fresh vegetables and fruit, wines and cognacs, medicines and gypsum rose to Belarus as well.

Belarus’ main exports to Moldova include tractors, trolleybuses, tires, fiberglass, ceramic tiles, medicines, light industry goods, refrigerators, washing machines, dairy products, potato. Belarus mainly imports Moldovan food products (wine-making materials, strong alcoholic drinks) as well as agricultural products (maize seeds, vegetables and fruit, extraction cake, tobacco), medicines, gypsum.

In 2012 the trade between Belarus and Moldova totaled $338.5 million, up 5.9% on 2011. Moldova is an important trade and economic partner of Belarus, which ranked 16th in the Belarusian exports and fourth in trade and exports in the CIS (behind Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan).
