Ukrainian agroindustrial complex may become driving force of economy growth - Arbuzov

The agrarian sector must become a driving force of Ukraine's economy and its export potential growth.
First Vice Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov has said about this during a visit of the village of Bokhonyky in Vinnytsia region, where he jointly with Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk familiarized with the course of grain harvesting and the results of activities of the Institute of Fodder and Agriculture of Podillia under the National Academy of Sciences, the government portal informs.
“Our country was always noted for coal, metal and I am convinced that it will be even more noted for the agrarian sector. I am satisfied with agrarian indexes, which we saw today, since we managed to hear more answers than we put the questions,” the official noted.
It is worth noting that Vinnytsia region is one of the key agrarian regions of Ukraine, the statistics proves this. Regional growth rates in this sphere reached 37% against general Ukrainian indexes of 15%.
“It should not be forgotten, that now we are staying on the threshold of creation of the free trade area with the European Union. This opens new colossal possibilities for exports of agro-industrial complex products. Potential increase in export volumes requires improvement of technologies in the agroindustrial sector,” Arbuzov stressed.
In turn, Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk noted that Ukraine is a leader today on growing many sorts of grain crops and our enterprises successfully export products to European markets. Since they, in turn, are permanent members of relevant European unions and associations.
To remind, July 30, First Vice Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov, Social Policy Minister Natalia Korolevska and Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk made a working visit to the city of Vinnytsia.
Within the frames of the visit, First Vice Prime Minister also inspected construction in Keletska Street and the tramline from Kviateka Street to the bus terminal Zakhidny (Western) in the city of Vinnytsia. He noted that the government, on its part, did much for realization of this project and now the local authorities should make maximum efforts for its implementation. “The main thing is that local residents felt the advantages of this project,” Arbuzov stressed.
