Ukraine to attract investment and U.S. experience in upgrading energy

Ukraine will welcome the attraction of U.S. investment and experience in upgrading the energy infrastructure and the gas market.
Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Eduard Stavytsky said this at a working meeting with President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine Jorge Zukoski on Tuesday, the press service of the Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Ministry reported.
"The Ukrainian side will welcome the involvement in this process of the experience and resources of powerful U.S. investors," the minister said.
According to Stavytsky, he is ready to meet with representatives of the chamber's working group on the gas market to discuss the vision by the chamber of key reforms that would ensure the creation of an open and competitive gas market in Ukraine. In addition, the minister noted that the creation in Ukraine of an Eastern European gas hub could be an important factor for Ukraine's entry into the European gas market.
Following the meeting, the sides agreed on the creation of a working group involving representatives of central authorities and business to discuss and jointly resolve pressing issues of the further liberalization and transparency of the gas market in Ukraine.
The meeting was organized in order to continue and strengthen constructive dialogue with the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine in the context of Ukraine's accession to the Energy Community. In addition, the issue concerns the implementation into the national legislation of the participating country of the EU directives in the sphere of the functioning of the energy market in order to harmonize the norms of law and create a common legal framework.
