Barriers to trade in Single Economic Space to be removed by 2015

2013-07-23 10:35:13

All barriers in trade and economic area in the Single Economic Space should be removed by 2015, Minister for Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Tatyana Valovaya said as she met with British journalists and experts in London, BelTA learned from EEC press service.

The Minister noted that the main task for the EEC now is to address the various exceptions and barriers in trade and economic area, which are about 500. "By 2015 they all should be eliminated. As was confirmed by the Presidents in May, the Eurasian Economic Union should start operating on 1 January 2015, without exceptions or barriers," she said.

“We are not ready for the introduction of the single currency. We are not talking the political or military alliance here. This will be a full-featured, advanced internal single market and the common economic space,” said Tanya Valovaya.

“We do not set ourselves against Europe. Common economic space from Lisbon to Vladivostok can be created in the long term through 15 to 20 years," she added.

Tatyana Valovaya also informed that the CIS countries have expressed interest in deepening integration within the framework of the Customs Union. “Kyrgyzstan will join the Customs Union by 2015. Possible partner is Ukraine. It is an interesting partner, especially in the field of mechanical engineering,” explains Tatiana Valovaya. According to the Minister, Russia would like Ukraine to take part in international economic unions.
