NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine has discovered an oil field in Poltava region.
The company's press office said in a statement Thursday.
"In late 2011 NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine received a special permit (license) for the exploration and pilot commercial development with further oil and gas production at the Budyshchansky-Chutivsky field in Poltava region," the company said.
During 2012, Naftogaz carried out a set of geological and geophysical studies, and in the third quarter of 2012 on the tender principles the company started the drilling of the well No. 110 Runivshchynska. As a result, an oil field was discovered, one of the largest in Ukraine over the past fifteen years.
During the testing of the upper carboniferous sediments in the well No. 110 Runivshchynska, the company recorded an oil tide of 106.8 cu. m a day. According to the current estimates, the minimum resources of the oil field make about 12.8 million tons.
Naftogaz continues the drilling on the Budyshchansky-Chutivsky section, where the gas field is already opened in the well No. 100 Runivshchynska, and new gas deposits discovered in the well No. 101 Runivshchynska, Naftogaz Deputy CEO Oleksandr Katsuba said.
