Belarus’ foreign trade surplus at $303.9m in January-May

In January-May 2013 Belarus’ surplus of foreign trade in goods and services made up $303.9 million, according to the preliminary data of the National Bank of Belarus.
In January-May 2013 the total trade in goods and services fell by 16.3% from the same time a year ago to make up almost $36,725.1 million. Exports reduced by 20.9% as against January-May 2012 to $18,514.5 million, imports shrank by 10.9% to $18,210.6 million.
Belarus had a surplus in merchandise trade at $32,513.9 million in January-May 2013 (81.1% to January-May 2012). Exports of goods totaled $15,791.5 million (75%), imports made up $16,722.4 million (87.8%). Belarus posted a trade deficit of $930.9 million.
In January-May 2013 the surplus in foreign trade in services went up by 12.1% over the same months of 2012 to $4,211.2 million. Exports of services rose by 15.8% to reach $2.723 billion. Imports inched up by 5.9% to $1,488.2 million. Belarus had a surplus of $1,234.8 million in trade in services.
