Ukrainian economy, in particular, technical re-equipment of the industry, requires large-scale investments, including from the CIS countries.

Economic Development and Trade Minister Ihor Prasolov has said about this in his speech at the Fourth International Investment Forum Yalta Business Meetings, a Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Plans of the Ukrainian government on technological re-equipment of our economy require large-scale capital investments in the nearest perspective. And a great role in this belongs to foreign capital, including from the CIS countries,” Prasolov noted.

“Those are high-technological projects, which in principle should bring our economy to the new world level, jointly with our traditional sectors, which occupy a great production volume and working places in our country,” Prasolov noted.

The Minister believes that the free trade area with CIS may help in this respect.

“The effectively functioning free trade area within the CIS frames is today the optimal model of cooperation of CIS participating states and should become a starting point for formation of trade and economic relations between our countries based on the qualitatively new level and modern legal basis,” Prasolov noted.
