Ukraine exports almost 23 million tons of grain - Prysiazhniuk

Almost 23 million tons of Ukrainian grain was exported abroad. Those export volumes of national grain became the largest over the years of independence.

Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk has said about this, the press service of the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry told Ukrinform.

“For today, almost 23 million tons of Ukrainian grain was supplied to other countries. This is almost 1 million tons up against the previous marketing year. In total, stable dynamics of exports was preserved over the year. Over recent months of the marketing year, agricultural producers sent almost 2 million tons of grain abroad,” Prysiazhniuk noted.

As of June 30, agricultural producers most exported corn - 13.5 million tons and wheat - 6.8 million tons. In total, according to the Minister, this year export volume is one of the largest over a period of independence, since over recent seven years 14.7 million tons of grain on average was supplied to external markets.

“Ukraine may produce and export more grain. And we will make maximum efforts in order to provide for the internal food security and to satisfy the world's growing demand for grain crops. For this, we continue coordinating actions of the authorities, grain business and agricultural producers. In particular, with the help of a memorandum, concluded between the Ministry and traders at the end of June,” Prysiazhniuk added.
