On-line trade rapidly grows in Ukraine

Internet trade becomes a leader of the Ukrainian economy by growth rates. Over the previous year, its volume grew by 45%. In total, about 8,000 on-line shops are working in the country, at the same time, the largest 300 occupy up to 80% of the market.
The Correspondent magazine writes about this.
"The so-called e-commerce, trading in goods in the Internet is the most successfully growing sector in the country," the publication notes.
Household appliances, clothes and books are sold like Banbury cakes: in the segment of household appliances and electronics, every eighth purchase is virtual in Ukraine.
By calculations of the financial company Fintime, turnover of the national Internet market reached USD 1.6 billion in 2012, having exceeded the four-year time limitation indexes by almost threefold. Only over the previous year, the market volume grew by 45%, at the same time, production growth by another dynamic sector, the agroindustrial complex, made up 10%, whereas growth of the IT-sector, which increased by 25% a year, slowed down to 2.9%.
By the way, the publication notes, growth of the e-commerce market is the world trend. According to the international company eMarketer, engaged in studying of the digital market, the world's Internet trade output exceeded USD 1 trillion for the first time last year. Still in 2007, online-trade gave turnover, which is twice less - USD 500 billion.
There are internal reasons for virtual sale growth of in Ukraine, the experts specify, primarily naming enhancement of the Internet penetration and prompt development of delivery services.
In addition, according to analyst of the marketing studies company Gemius Ukraine Oleksiy Bakun, seller in the network does not incur expenses for the rent of premises, organization of display windows and the sales staff. This allows selling goods at a price, which is 15-20% less against ordinary shops.
"The e-commerce market will win buyers from traditional trade for over 10 years at the minimum and will capture the lion's share of total trade in Ukraine," President of the Internet Invest Company Oleksandr Olshansky prognosticates.
