The Ukrainian Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry has started developing a bill on the protection of investment in the agricultural sector, particularly in the livestock sector.
Ukrainian Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk said this at a briefing at the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.
"At this time we are looking for an attractive model for foreign investors in the livestock industry. Therefore, we are planning to start developing a bill on the protection of investment in the agricultural sector. I am confident that owing to this law, we will create in Ukraine a maximally attractive environment for investment in the domestic livestock sector," the minister said.
He said that constant work is being conducted to search for and establish contact with potential investors. The government also promotes the development of animal husbandry. In particular, attention is being paid to the development and reconstruction of livestock farms. Such restored large-scale facilities have already started operating in Chernivtsi, Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions.
Prysiazhniuk also said that it is also planned to attract investment in the sector of agricultural machinery. Five investment projects are already being worked out. They are to be financed under the state guarantees worth about UAH 700 million.
