In 15 years, Ukrainian farmers will produce up to 90 million tons of grain. These amounts will provide Ukraine with the second place among the world grain seller leaders. However, to reach this aim it is necessary to invest into the agricultural sector. In particular, it needs up to 70 billion USD of investment. This was announced by the President of the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation Leonid Kozachenko during the discussion panel "Investing in the agrarian sector of Ukraine. Feed the world together!" that is a part of the First International Business Conference« ABC: Ukraine & Partners».
"Agricultural sector has always made our country famous. We expect the same situation in the future. Currently, Ukraine is among the five world grain export leaders. But in the near future we can be second. Ukraine has gained strategic markets of North Africa and the Middle East. Countries in these regions depend on 30 to 70% of Ukrainian grain. Ukraine has also significantly increased its sales of grain to Europe," said Leonid Kozachenko. The expert has also noted that it is necessary to increase grain yield to increase export. Thus, in 15 years Ukrainian farmers can collect up to 90 million tons of grain.
"Taking into account population growth tendency, Ukraine has a very important task. It can feed up to 600 million people. Approximately 20% of agricultural production will be consumed in Ukraine, while 80% will be exported," said the President of the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation Leonid Kozachenko. However, to realize such ambitious plans Ukraine has to attract investment on the amount of 70 billion USD.
