McDonald's is likely to enter Vietnam in 2014 to cash in on the growing popularity of fast food in the country, said a report in vietnamnet.vn. Analysts say the company is looking for suitable partners and suppliers of raw materials and trainers for its Vietnamese staff. Sources said McDonald’s plans to open two shops in Ho Chi Minh City first, and then expand to other provinces with a target to open 100 shops in the long-term.  McDonald's delayed its entry into Vietnam because it has yet to find local suppliers of fresh raw materials such as potatoes for French fries. Vietnam imposes a hefty tariff on French frozen potatoes, while Vietnamese potatoes cannot meet its requirements in terms of length and humidity.
