Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said he hopes that Ukraine and Serbia will complete the negotiations and sign a free trade agreement between the two countries by the end of the year.
He said this during a Ukrainian-Serbian business forum in Belgrade on Friday as part of his official visit to Serbia.
"I hope that by the end of this year it will be possible to complete the negotiations and sign this important document for our country," Yanukovych said.
The president said that the sides had successfully held five rounds of Ukrainian-Serbian talks on the signing of the agreement. He said that there would be an opportunity to sign the document this autumn, during the Serbian prime minister's visit to Ukraine.
Yanukovych also said that the signing of the agreement would open up new opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.
