Ukraine. Bakhmatyuk eyeing up Ukrainian business of Valinor

2013-05-30 13:06:56

The Russo-Ukrainian agricultural holding Valinor is selling its Ukrainian assets comprising 123 000 ha of land, four elevators and a fleet of agricultural machinery. The potential buyer is Oleh Bakhmatyuk’s Ukrlandfarming, according to two market players aware of the talks. If the deal is made, the country’s largest land holder will increase its land bank by a quarter to 655 000 ha. The business, one of the top ten in terms of the land bank size, may cost the buyer $120-180 Ml.

Valinor was created three years ago on the basis of Valars Group’s production assets. Two companies – the farming Valinor and the trading Valars – were set up as a result of reorganization. Valinor’s revenue amounted to $253 Ml in 2011. The company controls 360 000 ha of land in Russia and Ukraine, with its key shareholder being Russia’s citizen Kirill Podolsky. About 10% of the stock capital belongs to Deutsche Bank with reservation that these shares are to be returned to the shareholder under a call-option.
