Monsanto Ukraine planning to invest $3 Ml to set up irrigation on hybridization plots in 2013

In 2013, Monsanto Ukraine is planning to invest $3 Ml in setting up irrigation on hybridization plots within a production program being implemented jointly with Ukrainian grower partners, the company’s press service reports. According to the report, the company installed irrigation on 210 ha in 2012, and its installation has been contracted and started on 620 ha in 2013. The project is developing rapidly in Vinnytsya, Cherkasy and Kyiv regions now. It is projected to intensely expand the partnership further in Zhytomyr, Khmelnytsky and Ternopil regions as well. Within the framework of the project’s implementation, Monsanto Ukraine purchases irrigation equipment at its own expense and installs it in the fields, handing over this equipment to its partners for the use as an interest-free credit. The use of irrigation systems under the corn seed production program in Ukraine will ensure sustainable planned yields for Monsanto Ukraine even in critical weather conditions, preventing crops from drought.
