Ukraine's foreign trade with the countries of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) has grown by 2% over the last three years and reached 13% in total trade.

Director of the Da Vinci Analytical Group Anatoliy Baronin said this on Monday during a round table entitled "Problems and Prospects in Ukraine's Cooperation with the Countries of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA)," a UKRINFORM correspondent reported.

"In 2002, the share of the MENA countries in Ukraine's foreign trade was 8.9%, in 2008, this figure was 11%, and in 2012, it reached 13%," Baronin said. At the same time, imports from this region, he said, stood "at a very low level."

In general, the director of the Da Vinci Analytical Group said, over the last ten years Ukraine's trade with the countries of the Middle East and North Africa has been among the most dynamic. "If we take peak figures in Ukraine's exports to these countries, we see a substantial increase in the share of this region in the segment of Ukraine's foreign trade," he said. According to Baronin, there is a high potential for the development of trade and economic relations between Ukraine and the region.
