Economic potential of agroholdings continues rising

2011-02-25 17:09:22

In Ukraine, in agricultural production a role and a share of agroholdings is increasing, Agroefficiency coordinator of the Association Ukrainian Agribusiness Club Roman Slastena said in Kherson at the regional-practical conference "Market of New Opportunities for Selling of Agricultural Products. Investment-Innovation Development in the Agroindustrial Complex."

"We carried out the research in 2010 and cleared out that approximately 60 agroholdings are in Ukraine, in other words those tilling 20,000-30,000 ha of lands at the minimum. Respectively, they control 4 million ha of lands. If to take 16 million ha, tilled by agricultural producers, actually it makes up 25%, the share is rather great," the expert noted.

Economic potential of agroholdings in Ukraine continues further growing. Over "recent months it is possible to speak that many agroholdings continue boosting their capacities," projector coordinator stated.

According to Roman Slastena, "if to look at the territorial distribution of agroholdings, those companies are oriented more toward the central regions of Ukraine, which are more fruitful and more effective" as to capital investments. "In those regions there exists a rather serious fight for land lease."

The volumes of products also testify to the present potential of agroholdings. In Ukraine, 55% of total volume of sugar beet grown by agricultural enterprises falls on agroholdings, 35% of grain and a considerable part of other agricultural products, the expert noted.
