Belarus’ exports to China up 3 times in Q1 2013

In January-March 2013 Belarus’ exports of goods to China totaled $255.5 million, up almost 3 times on the same months a year ago, according to the State Customs Committee of Belarus.
 
In Q1 2013 Chinese imports to Belarus grew 39% to $612.7 million.
 
The State Customs Committee of Belarus reported an increase in the Belarusian exports to the UK: a total of $221.5 million, up 311% on the same period in 2012. The UK imports to Belarus rose 9.3% to $59.3 million.
 
Belarus’ demonstrated positive dynamics in its trade with Italy, exporting $286.5 million worth of goods to the country (up 34.8%) and importing products worth $204.4 million (up 0.3%).
 
Exports to Moldova increased by 7.1% to $71.6 million. Belarus’ exports to Azerbaijan reached $46.6 million (up 5.8%), and $47.7 million (up 0.7%) to Turkmenistan.
 
According to the State Customs Committee, the trade with the Russian Federation slowed down by 13.6% (to $9.6 billion), compared to the first quarter of 2012. Belarus posted trade deficit of $1.9 billion. With this, exports grew 6% to $3.8 billion, imports contacted by 23% to $5.7 billion.
 
Trade with Ukraine decreased by 3.9% to $1.5 billion, with Belarus posting a $468.8 million surplus. Exports went down by 13.9% to $971.8 million, imports were up by 23.8% to $503 million.
 
In January-March 2013 trade with Kazakhstan dropped by 19.6%, or $42.3 million to make up $173.4 million. Belarus posted trade surplus of $134.7 million. Exports reduced by 16.1% to $154.1 million, imports totaled $19.3 million (down 39.5%).
 
According to the customs statistics, the trade with the EU countries contracted by 25.8% to $5.7 billion, comparing to the first quarter the year before (28.7% of the country’s total trade). Exports went down by 41.9% to make up $.34 billion, imports increased by 25.6% to $2.3 billion. Belarus’ surplus totaled $1.1 billion.
 
In the first quarter of 2013 the trade with the WTO member states reduced by 14.9% to $19.1 billion. Exports to these countries fell 20% to $9.2 billion, imports dropped by 9.5% to $10 billion. Belarus posted a trade deficit of $808.3 million.
 
In January-March 2013 Belarus’ foreign trade in goods totaled $19.7 billion, down 14.5%, compared to the same period the year before. Belarus’ exports totaled $9.6 billion, down 19.9% on the same months of 2012. Belarus reduced its imports by 8.8% to $10.2 billion.
 
Belarus’ main trading partners among the non-CIS countries include the Netherlands, Germany, China, Poland, Italy, Lithuania, and the UK.
