Ukraine, Ireland cancel double taxation

The governments of Ukraine and Ireland have signed a double taxation avoidance convention.
The document was signed by Finance Minister Yuriy Kolobov on behalf of Ukraine at a meeting with Minister of State for the Irish Department of Finance Brian Hayes and Irish Ambassador to Ukraine Alison Kelly, the press service of the Ukrainian Finance Ministry reported.
"The event is very important to the intensification of bilateral cooperation between our countries. The signing of the convention will help continue the further stimulation of investment activity in economic sectors that are a priority for both countries," he said.
The minister said that the Ukrainian government was taking effective measures for the economic revitalization and improvement of the investment attractiveness of the national economy, the introduction of transparent mechanisms of work in economic branches and the recovery of investment processes.
During the meeting, the Ukrainian finance minister also noted a significant contribution by Ireland to the development of the EU-Ukraine dialogue and thanked the Irish side for supporting Ukraine's EU integration course.
Hayes, in turn, thanked Kolobov for assistance and participation in strengthening economic cooperation between Ukraine and Ireland and expressed hope that the document would help overcome the effects of the crisis of 2007-2008 in both countries.
As reported, Ireland is in 14th place among 128 countries in terms of investment in Ukraine.
